Christmas Party on Wedensday

Dear Bristol Voices singers,

Well thank you all for a truly memorable evening on Thursday night: a really heartening event in the end, thank you thank you for your warm spirits and fine singing and to Alex for organising!

This Wednesday is our Christmas Party evening.

So do please bring along some finger food and festive drink! In exciting news we will have my old friend Rebecca jazz singer, choir leader,  Double bass player and her jazz trombone playing husband Donald to enliven proceedings musically in the second half!! Going to be rather fun I reckon!

Do by all means bring any Xmas reading you have been dying to do too (as long as it doesn’t not last more than 59.5 seconds!).

We will start the evening by singing through some of repertoire from the BHI concert (we will also add in Picture in a Frame)….audience can join in the communal carols as per the concert.  Just keep your words folders the same as we follow the same order as in the BHI.

THEN we will break and eat and drink for 15 mins or so and can settle in to enjoy everyone singing along a selection of Xmas hits from the word sheet which I will send out tomorrow for you to print.

In fact would be great if you can print out a couple of copies for yourself and a guest: I will bring a few of my own for people who don’t have printers.

Many thanks and see you Wednesday,

Jeremy x

‘Ere we go!

Firstly I just really want to thank those of you who gave a sterling performance at the SSGB on Saturday morning. It was great fun and we really pulled it off nicely!

I  also really enjoyed having the chance to look over the boat and shipyard for the first time. It’s AMAAAZING!

So….looking forward to seeing you on Wedensday to put the finishing touches to our xmas programme for the BHI on Friday.

Therefore we will start the evening by singing Photo in a Frame,  Dream dream dream, Wangol and Adio Querida:

Please make sure you have have a listen to  Photo in a frame and Adio Querida before our rehearsal.

Then we will top and tail the whole programme including the readings.

The running order will essentially be the same as the one that is already out there, we will however add in the couple of readings and slip one of the singalong carols in earlier in the programme to ensure everyone participates in the audience too!

ooh and a final point about Deck the Hall: the lyrics in Dropbox are the correct ones and tally with the words on the learning files / recording. Please print these out if you are in any doubt.

See you on Wednesday for a good old sing !

Greetings singers all!

Avis is finally back from his oriental peregrinations.

Istanbul concert was lively and lovely but feels good to be home and now focus on enjoying the festive season!

I am so glad you had a good time with Jon last week. He and I have been in touch and he has clearly left you with two carols that are absolutely good to go into our performances, namely Ding Dong Merrily and Joy to the World.  I have therefore now officially added them to the repertoire list for our two December concerts.

Due to lack of time we will not be doing In the Bleak Midwinter in four parts (though we will still sing it in unison at the the BHI gig).

So at this Wednesday’s rehearsal we will run everything for the SS Great Britain concert:

SS GB performance

Paper Moon

A Rose is a Rose

Cable Car

Gower Wassail

White Winter Hymnal

Carol of the Bells

Boars Head Carol

Field-mouse carol

Deck the Halls

Ding dong merrily

Joy to the World

Could you therefore please try and listen through to your parts for all the songs in that performance  before this Wednesday focusing particularly on :

Paper Moon

Cable Car

Gower Wassail

White Winter Hymnal

Boars Head Carol

Deck the Halls

An updated repertoire for the concert is also is saved in Dropbox

Happy learning and see you on Wednesday!
